To coincide with the 2010 Vancouver and Whistler Winter Olympic Games, Equinox Wilderness Expeditions will offer chalet accommodations at our base in Pemberton, BC for a group of up to 10 people. (SORRY-NO VACANCY!) Our beautiful mountain location near Whistler is a 3-story, 4-bedroom house on a remote glacial lake (approximately 45 minutes from Whistler). Come 'home' from the Olympic events to enjoy a gourmet dinner by the fire, or a soak under the stars. This is a peaceful place to spend your evenings, away from the crowded atmosphere of Whistler.
The house is comfortable and modern--a cedar European-style mountain ski chalet with a generator and fireplace/woodstove. We are located near beautiful natural hot springs on forested acreage.
The house can be rented from February 10-28 for the Olympics, and during the period of March 12-21 for the Paralympics. The chalet is available for other dates as well. Contact us for more details.
You will most enjoy the chalet if you are attending events at Whistler/Blackcomb--the Olympic Alpine ski or high performance sliding events: Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super Combined Skiing, and/or Bobsleigh (Bobsledding), Luge and Skeleton events, as we are closest to these venues. The Callaghan Valley, for Nordic events, is an additional 10-15 minutes away, so if you don't mind the extra commute, we'd love to host you.
One great feature about staying at our place is that traffic will not be restricted in the Pemberton Valley, so driving is not prohibited, and access to Whistler is assured, in our vehicles, your vehicle, or via shuttle buses, which will leave Pemberton every 10 minutes.
Equinox Wilderness Expeditions will offer daytime activities throughout the Olympics, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and backcountry skiing, with visits to nearby glaciers and natural hot springs. Activities depart daily from the chalet and from central locations in Whistler and Pemberton. Contact us if you wish to participate in these active outdoor winter sports activities during your stay, as this is a unique opportunity to experience the panoramic scenery and wide variety of winter sports available in the area, while also taking in the Olympic events.
Caretakers/hosts will be on hand to assist throughout your stay, and Equinox ski guides will be staying nearby, giving the house a friendly atmosphere with local ski flavor. We welcome guests who can appreciate our beautiful natural surroundings, and who are looking for a unique 'off-the-grid' experience during their stay in the region. Randonee, Off-Piste, Backcountry, Alpine Tour, Telemark, Toppturr and cross-country skiers and snowshoers who wish to explore the local powder are especially welcome.
Location

The lodge is on forested property overlooking a beautiful glacial lake nestled between the mountains of the Garibaldi and Stein Provincial Parks. To the east, the property adjoins wilderness areas of the Cayoosh and Lillooet Mountain Ranges, which rise up dramatically in rugged peaks and hanging glaciers behind the house. To the west, there are views over the lake to the Garibaldi peaks. Lakeside docks and secluded beaches offer opportunities for relaxation, photography and evening 1234123412341234123r511234123412 campfires.
There are many options for backcountry or cross-country skiing, as well as hiking, kayaking or fishing on nearby rivers. Helicopter flights over the mountains, or drop-offs for heli-skiing can be arranged in nearby Pemberton. For convenient departures and arrivals, we suggest arranging ground transportation with us, as we offer guests the option for a pick-up in either Whistler or Pemberton, or rent your own vehicle. Another option for travel is to rent a 4x4 vehicle to drive the scenic Duffey Lake Road from Vancouver to Lillooet Lake via the Thompson-Fraser Canyon or the rugged Harrison River-Lillooet Divide.
Rates
During the ski season, the house rents for $300 per day (space for 10 people). With daily breakfast included, the rate is an additional $10 per person, or $35 additional per person for three meals, including a healthy boxed lunch and hearty dinner paired with an excellent selection of wines from our wine cellar. For $750 per day for your entire group, we will include all meals and daily transportation to and from Pemberton, where shuttle buses will take you to the various Olympic venues. Individual rates are $75 USD per person per day, including meals and daily transportation to Pemberton. Preference will be given to groups who wish to book the house for the entire two week period in either February or March.
Minimum stay is 5 days.
Hosts
Your hosts will be Equinox guides, who have an intimate knowledge of the mountains, rivers, icefields and peaks around Whistler. We welcome you to share this unique location with us.
